IAA’s "Outside the box" Puts PR into perspective

The second annual advertising and marketing communications conference "Outside the Box", organized by the International Advertising Association Jordan Chapter (IAA Jordan) kicked off on May 29 with marketing communications speakers from different parts of the world.

In his opening remark Sharif Abukhadra, President of IAA Jordan and World Vice President for communications and Public Relations reviewed the recent trends in Advertising expenditure in Jordan, he pointed out the correlation between the tremendous growth of Jordan market, the Kingdom’s GDP and its advertising spend. In 2005 the size of advertising industry grew by 34 percent to record $162 million, a rise of 24 percent  on the same period in 2005.

 The two day conference, covered a number of hot topics related to branding, public relations, direct marketing, online marketing, media planning and booking, and market research.

 Drew Neisser president and CEO of Renegade marketing group based in NY, USA, told the Star" we hope to expand marketing and advertising knowledge and help people to become smarter…the conference is very ambitious program, specially having international speakers come together and share ideas."

 He pointed out that advertising in Jordan is growing, and that advertising fuels the economy. He commented on local advertising by saying "it is interesting to absorb how advertising portrays woman, some times as progressive and some times they were conservative."
